Geplaatst door This Synology NAS is used by my parents. Suddenly the NAS was not working anymore. No lights, nothing. Just some ticking noises from the power socket.
After removing the 2 hard drives the unit was still dead. So the drives weren’t the issue, Next step, removing the PCB. There must be a short somewhere because you hear the sound (sparking) from the power socket itself! After some measuring i found a defective tantulum capacitor. After removing this the short was gone and the unit powers up again! At this moment i will not reinstall a new capacitor. Maybe i order a new one some time.
